WHAT CAUSES A PHOBIA?
A phobia can be stemmed from a memory or an experience that may be forgotten from a time when one is younger, but the emotional states that were provoked at this time have stayed within the unconscious mind. The thought of then being confronted with the situation/experience again, brings about irrational thoughts and emotions, which can then build up into a phobia.
No matter how much you know that there is nothing to rationally be afraid of, the unconscious mind hijacks your response and triggers your fight-or-flight adrenaline response.
A phobia can get worse over time, unless the person seeks help. Reacting in the same way each time a phobia is experienced ends up becoming a conditioned response, the behaviour becoming reinforced and strengthened each time. If not dealt with, this can take over a person's life, leaving them to feel isolated, over-anxious and can even stop them achieving success in different areas of their life.
Some phobias are rather simple, as they are a phobia of an animal, object, an activity or situation. Some can be developed in our younger years and as we grow older they become less severe. Some common phobias are:

Undergoing hypnotherapy for your phobia does not mean that you will be exposed to the object of your phobia. This will later be done by the client when they feel ready to do so. The client will not be traumatised in anyway by putting them in a situation where they have to confront their fear.

This can differ from person to person
The number of hypnotherapy sessions required to overcome a phobia can differ from person to person and will depend on the severity of the phobia. Some people feel more able to cope after a single session, while others need ongoing reinforcement.
